It’s not always so black and white

When we met Sammy we knew that he was reactive around certain dogs, and I set out to learn more about what might trigger him. In our adventures we have come across dozens of dogs and for the most part Sammy is happy to ignore them, is even quite friendly sometimes. But I did notice a small white dog in the neighborhood that barked at Sammy, and he barked back. I noticed that he barked (once) when he was meeting Holly, another white dog. He did not bark at Mindy who is also white, but he did today when he met Millie, who is… white. I thought for sure it was a color thing, and it may be part of it, but it may not be so simple. Sammy was friendly with Holly and Mindy, but he was giving Millie the cold shoulder this morning. I was surprised. Millie was playful and friendly, but Sammy just couldn’t seem to be bothered. He was polite, and there were no issues at all, but it wasn’t the friendly playful Sammy I had seen before with others. Maybe he had a bad experience with a white dog, and is now weary. Maybe meeting new dogs and going for walks in strange places has become commonplace for him, and he was just tired. But to look at the pictures, he was hardly suffering.
