Bad Hollyday

The week started off great for Holly with camp on Monday, but it went downhill from there. By Monday afternoon noisy roof construction, with the constant sound of the rivet gun, made our walks around the Common more anxious than fun. On Tuesday we tried going for a walk to the cemetery, but a truck and a student driver car bothered her, and she informed me she didn’t want to go there either, and would rather just hang in our yard on the lead. By Wednesday she was pretty sick of the yard. She had loved the meadow behind the Publik House and we tried to take her there, but a small yappy dog and some noisy trucks ruined it for her, and she pulled hard to go home right away. In all her travels, she’s always looking for a way to get away and look for her owner. She appreciates us, but you could tell by her face, she really misses her own person. By Wednesday night the noise had stopped, and we were able to go for a delightful walk to the cemetery. But as Holly was walking on the grass, she suddenly yelped, barked, bolted, and began to limp. Either she twisted her paw, got stung by a bee, or maybe she saw a ghost. We turned around and she bravely limped home. We couldn’t find a stinger or any injury, but she’s been very mellow and still favors one leg. I suspect she’ll spend the day sleeping and licking her wounds. We’re going to baby her today, keep her close, and hope tomorrow is a much better Hollyday.
