I’ve spent a lot of time reinforcing good behavior in Koda. We’ve established that she does NOT like to sit (her hips hurt, she says), but may do it for cookies. But otherwise she very much gets what’s expected of her by word and tone. That’s why it was so awesome today, being able to just tell her to “stay” when it was time to give her some water on our walk. I was holding her leash, holding a camera phone, holding a canteen and bowl… if she had pulled at that moment I might have lost control. But she didn’t. She understood and complied without complaint. Happy dog, happy handler. By the way, dogs have very expressive faces. Sometimes it’s a challenge to capture their face truly expressing their mood. But today Koda made it easy, smiling from ear to ear throughout the walk. And of course that made me smile too.
