Julian was an amazing companion for me this weekend. He was feeling blue being left behind but once he saw me he knew he wouldn’t be bored. Saturday was rainy, so we hunkered down inside, playing with his toys, snuggling on the futon to watch a movie, and taking naps. By Sunday the weather had cleared and an early morning walk invigorated us. We headed out to run some errands. Julian didn’t care where; the car is his happy place. Then we went to my place to meet Abigail and Sophie who instantly fell in love with Mr J. I took all 3 to the farmer’s market, where Julian was very calm and mellow, politely saying hello to every person and dog, even as the pugs circled his feet and vied for his attention. I thought he’d be exhausted, but once we were ready to head out he wanted to go for a walk – just us – and we did. Back at his place we had lunch, took in the gorgeous scenery and he took a well deserved nap. After dinner we played indoor boy sports (nothing broken!) and watched stupid TV shows that made us laugh. Julian is such a snuggler I started to fall asleep on the couch and we finally went to bed. We’ve got big plans for our last day – a play date with Beau, and maybe a trip to Westville!
House-sitting Julian was especially meaningful because I got to see sides of him I never get to see as his photographer/coach. His playful side is amazing – such a puppy still!
