Moose was dozing before his walk, and with the oppressive heat I figured he would sort of sleep walk through a turn around the Common. But early on Moose caught the scent of something. His tail started wagging like he just found a power-up. He followed the scent into the bushes and (gently) searched the underbrush for his prey. He stayed in those bushes for 15 minutes, crisscrossing them back and forth. I would tell him to come out, and he would look at me like a kid being forced out of the pool too soon. One more minute! And back in he would dive. At the end it didn’t matter that he didn’t catch what it was after. Whatever he tracked, it’ll be “the one that got away” 🥰
