Charlie had been promised a trip to Opacum since forever but it was always too muddy. But this dry weather was out ticket to climbing winding trails, treacherous narrow wooden bridges, and a scenic view at the end that pays it all off. Charlie was all in, helping me up the hills as he hurried to the end. He stood on the shore and gazed at the water thinking dog thoughts, appreciating it in his own way. The trip back seemed longer, but we were hot and tired and in no real hurry to leave. We’ll be back soon but I’m glad we got to take this moment of Opacum peacefulness home with us.
