It was fantastic moving in with Maddy for awhile. She was so sweet and loving and we had a great time playing outside, having dinner, and cuddling like old friends. Her coat is so soft it’s hard not to always be touching her! 🥰 But as I was relaxing at night on the couch I slipped off my shoes, forgetting myself for a moment. This was enough time for Maddy to pick it up (ever so gently by the very back) and run away with it. The game was afoot, or barefoot in this case! 😂 But I remember what happened to my shoe last time I was here and I had to draw the line. There were stern commands, which didn’t work, and treats, which also didn’t work. I knew I had to set some boundaries with her or this would be a constant thing. So I grabbed her blanket and threw it over her which slowed her down enough for me to grab her collar. I guided her down to the floor where I lay down with her and held her there. I pet her and spoke to her softly while she growled and protested, threatened and begged, but I didn’t let her up. After about 2 minutes she dropped the shoe and I let her up . The game turned out to be waaay less fun than she expected it to be. She immediately wanted to make sure we were still good. When she saw that we were, and she wasn’t in trouble, all was right again. And then she got her chicken treats! I left the shoes upstairs for the rest of the night, and we cuddled on the couch without any problems. She’s so sweet the incident was forgotten minutes after it happened and I don’t expect a repeat any time soon. 😁
